When it comes to an armed combat, one of the top priorities for both sides is saving lives of their own soldiers. You can not win if there is no one to shoot at your enemy.

post Nanoparticle light cannon

Nanotechnology is attracting a lot of attention these days despite being in the early stages of its development and lacking widely used applications. In 2005 calculations performed in University of Southampton, UK showed an interesting phenomenon called optical whirlpool. It was found that light goes a bit crazy around nanoparticles and at certain conditions turns into a spiral.

Here is an idea how this phenomenon can be used to create a future nano light cannon.
